I finished listening to' 'Little Bee' on PlayAway. I have to say it is one of the best stories I've heard in a long time. One of those stories that make you realize how very good you have it!`
I don't want to spoil it by giving away too much of the story, so here is just a brief synopsis:
A young African girl and her sister flee for their lives after witnessing an oil company destroy their village, killing everyone in it. Aware that they've left 2 witnesses, the oilmen go after the girls who've fled into the jungle. The girls make a brief escape and encounter a white British couple on the beach. They beg the couple to help them. What happens next changes their lives and some of them may not be able to live with the choice they've made.
I really enjoyed this book and I think hearing it on PlayAway was an added bonus. The African girl is the narrator and her voice and demeanor are a perfect fit for the girl's integrity and character. This story was so intense, and its about so much more than a girl running for her life. It's about love, relationships, honor, devotion, and it's about PEACE! 'Little Bee' -- it's a must read!
