Yup, word has it that a French cat appeared on to her doorstop when she was living in Paris, and , “Our domestic circle was completed, " recalled Julia. Thus "Minette" captured Julia’s heart, sparking her lifelong passion for cats! Why, there's even been a couple of books written about her and her love affair with cats. There have been several books written about her and her cats! And not just a children's book either! I'd love to get a copy of that book.
I did pick up one of her cookbooks at a book fair though. I thought it would be fun to do like Julie Powell and cook my way through her cookbook. My friend pointed out that it would be not only difficult, but probably very expensive! Also, I'm not a heavy meat eater, so what would I do with all of the meat and food after I cooked it? So there went that idea!
Then, my friend told me she had just purchased a new cookbook and she thought she might be able to cook her way through that one. So I might go with that plan also.- - Visit restaurant that is featuring meals from her cookbooks this week
- - Read the archives of Lawrence Dai. His archives
- - AND, Random House Canada's blog lists 100 ways to celebrate Julia's 100th birthday!
BON APPETIT!
